97 M3 build

Postby johnson507 » Wed Jan 13, 2010 9:16 pm

Here's my 97 M3 that's being built for drifting, I know not many people decide to go with a bmw for drifting, but this thing is insane while in corners, very stable.
Mod list so far;
H&R springs
Dinan High Flow Cold Air Intake Systems
Dinan's High Flow Throttle Body
Dinan's High Flow Air Mass Meter
Dinan's Free Flow Exhaust
Dinan's Stage 5 Software
Front strut support
S50 intake manifold

Things going in this Weekend are;
Stage 3 clutch
AA Works headers

All trim and moldings in the back of the car have been removed, back seat is also gone.
Car sits a lil' high right now due to the 19" rims,
Going back to 18's soon.
This is my 5th bmw i've owned, and by far the best, even beats my last 03 6 sp m3 that i just got rid of.

Here's some pics so far...

And here's some update work done today...

Just got done putting in FATMAT where the back seat and trim used to be...

Love me some A-Pillar gauges, like the car.
Here was the setup I had in my wifes Volvo, had pretty good luck with the glowshift gauges, I liked the 7 color,

(@coye, omg for a hot second i thought you were talking about her volvo from high school hahahahhaha. )

i think the reason most ppl dont go BMW for drifting is because of the cost. Good luck with turboing your s50, what range of HP are you going for? I plan on doing similar with the m50 (but in an e30) because Ive heard about issues with the s50 engines. but since you have had them before i'll assume you know what your doing :D. Let me know how that dual vanos works with the turbo!

want e30 so bad...*shakes*

The s50 can handle quite a bit horses, if it's done right, not doing the turbo until i build the engine up, new pistons, rods, springs, and pretty much every thing else, not too worried bout the vanos, set it my self in my old 97 m3 sedan, after replacing the cam. It's really pretty easy :D

I'm shootin for some where from 400 to 500 hp. :D

Those e30's are becoming very hard to find... :(

Also anyone have a 240sx with the ka24e forsale?

I freakin love that lil' engine! :D

Here's a video on my old 240 after I completely rebuild the engine, and gave it a slight port and polish ;D
You name, it was replaced in that engine, was my first rebuild :D

Now maybe finely I'll be able to make some meets.

i love it when someone pours money and time into a car and then actually intends to use it.
im afraid when i finish my 240 ka-t ill put it in a glass frame and never touch it again lol.
cool car, impressive goals!

Got some updated photos of the project, new 19x9.5 rims with 3.5 lip front and back, 20 mm spacers for front, 20 mm going on back soon, new upgraded control arms and h.i.d. kit going on today, new racing seats, halos, corner lights, new mirrors are suppose to be here on monday.
E46 M3 front bumper in the works.
And deciding on ordering the GT wide body fit for it or not....
either way, new paint job coming very soon.
Found a greddy piggy back that works well with e36 M3 ECU's.
It's slowing coming along. :D
